Here's a fun little illustration I did based on a sheet I tore out from an editorial in this month's Vogue. Just a little something for your day!

Finally 21

So, this past Sunday I finally turned 21! Time really has gone by so fast, I can't believe that I am here already. Anyways, this November 6th, I had such an amazing day, and I have my Boyfriend: David to thank for making my 21st Birthday the most special it could be! Starting the day off with a mountain of beautifully wrapped gifts, each one so thoughtfully chosen. Then, we met up with my best friend Juni and his then soon to be boyfriend, Avidan at one of my favorite Sushi restaurants in New York. We had some delicious Viking roll which is a delightful compilation of salmon, tuna, yellowtail fish, eel and avocado with spicy mayo all in one roll. Then we went back to my place and used my brand new cotton candy machine which was one of the gifts David got me.  After a cotton candy coma, we rested for a while and then eventually at night we met with David's mom who took me to Ruth Chris for my birthday dinner, where we had medium rare steak galore. Finishing with a delightful creme Brulee! Again, I want to thank all who made this day so special! Whether by spending this day with me or those who took the time to call and say the kindest of words to me, and my Mom, Dad and sister who called minutes after the clock struck and turned into Nov.6th, Thank you!

Update: Our Halloween Costumes

Here's an update on my Halloween. Although a little late, its here nonetheless. So basically after countless of brainstorming on ideas for our Halloween costumes it seemed strange how naturally the idea of a 20's couple popped into our heads. Which eventually transformed, after we became inspired by Film Noir and decided to take on the roles of its two main characters and dress up as the stealthy Detective and Femme Fatale for Halloween. And Our friend Juni also joined our Halloween festivities as a Native Indian.

Check out the rest of our pictures from that night...

In the Spirit of Halloween...

Here's an illustration I created in Drawing class after draping our model in a stripped twill cotton fabric and a cowl neck achieved by the use of crocodile leather. The final result is a ghost silhouette holding the shape of the garment. It kinda reminded me of Halloween... or maybe the American flag, whichever works.

Catskill, Upstate New York.

Literally, the most magical place in the world; at least in New York that is. Catskill, I'll never forget it. One of the best weekends so far. So relaxing. So calming and peaceful. And so, so, so inspirational!

Alphabet Shirt

Model: Jose Salgado
This is a reversible shirt I finished working on a few weeks ago. From its first glance it may seem simply like a draped shirt, but it was actually drafted to represent the "psi"character of the Greek alphabet when it is fully laid out on a flat surface. On the continuing page I posted the rest of the views of this shirt, as well as the Greek character itself. Be sure to check it out..

Crystallized

This is a conceptual representation of the metamorphosis of crystals incorporated with drapes, caking of gazaar layers, and use of digital prints to create the six different looks of my next collection. It is a transitional collection meant to be presented as a Fall/Winter '12 but can also be worn during the spring. The music is by Clint Mansel, Lux Aeterna.

What you see isn't always what you get.

This is a simple rendering of mine that I played around with. I used my markers in a way that it looks like watercolor, but it actually isn't.

Here's a photoshop collage I am working on as part of a Digital Visual Journal I am making. The crystals used in this image include some of Artist, Carly Waito's. Whom I am currently studying her body of work as inspiration for the development of my next clothing collection.

Home sweet Future

NakaHouse, Located in Hollywood Hills, Designed by XTEN Architecture

I came across this house today through Trendland and I was just absolutely floored when I saw it. This uber contemporary bundle of joy is literally the exact vision I have of (one of) my dream homes. Absolutely stunning with its sparse, open space. Huge, flawless crystal clear windows, with an amazing view of the fresh greens outside...how can one resist?

I get that a lot of people are obsessed with the idea of Baroque style or even Spanish style homes as their "Dream Home." I appreciate that aesthetic as well, as I would in a heartbeat want to live in one of those beauties, but I don't see how one can deny the beauty in this methodically designed space. Maybe it's just me, what do you think?

Here's some more jaw-dropping pictures of this wonderful home...

Periodic Table of Letters

Today I stumbled across this font type by an Artist who I believe goes by the name of Alex Hynes. Needless to say, I  was completely in awe of the simplicity and modernity of this design.

Something about the way this was layed out reminded me of a period table. I'm not sure what you think of it, but its pretty cool to me.

FNO 2011!

So, it's been a little while since my last post - sorry about that! This past week has been completely hectic with NY Fashion Week having started, Fashion's Night Out and not to mention getting back to "real" Parsons mode all over again, this semester. I only say 'real' because up until yesterday I had not had my Concepts(Design) and Methods(Sewing) classes just yet. Now, I'm all caught up, and school is back in full swing. The pile of homework hasn't been slacking either...I've currently got growing stacks waiting to tackle.

However, I did decide to take a breather and catch up with you guys on one of my most memorable of the few past days: Fashion's Night Out! I've been participating in this event since it was originally created, exactly three years ago. I must say though, I thought this year was the best by far! Maybe it was all the free stuff, the heels clacking all over the New York City streets or the champagne induced laughter heard all around. Needless to say, it was pretty great! My night started out at McQueen, where my Boyfriend(David), my friends and I met up to collect the key...

Seeing Sequins

Prada Handbag & Dress
It's no surprise that we are seeing tons of sequins, every which way we turn. Last season, a handful of designers used these little shimmering plastics we all love! However, none captured my heart quite the way as Prada did using them. Speaking of which, have you checked out their Fall/Winter Ad Campaigns? It's just to die for, wouldn't you say?

Needless to say, coming across them, they were just too irresistible for me not to illustrate one of their looks. The model's porcelain skin and dewy complection against the pop colors of the accessories strategically thrown around with these other planet-like human beings? FLAWLESS.

It's about time.
